InterRAI Training In The North East
The North East region began its InterRAI training journey in 2024. In collaboration with Ontario Health’s Digital Excellence in Health team, a train-the-trainer model was established to build regional capacity and support a consistent approach to InterRAI education. This resulted in the development of a dedicated regional trainer responsible for delivering all required InterRAI-CHA (Community Health Assessment) training to North East Health Service Providers (HSPs).
In 2025, the model expanded to include InterRAI-PS (Preliminary Screener) assessor training, further increasing the region’s capacity to provide standardized InterRAI education locally. In 2026, the model was expanded again to include an InterRAI-CHA refresher course, providing existing assessors with an opportunity to reinforce their knowledge and maintain their assessment skills.
Also in 2026, in continued collaboration with Ontario Health’s Digital Excellence in Health team, RELIAS competency evaluations were launched in the North East for InterRAI-CHA assessors. These evaluations provide an additional quality assurance measure by ensuring that InterRAI-CHA assessments completed across the North East are conducted by assessors who are not only trained, but also demonstrate ongoing competency. Collectively, these initiatives have strengthened the region’s InterRAI training and competency framework, supporting consistent, high-quality assessment practices while encouraging greater collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordination among HSPs and other partner organizations.
